MELEK-Engine · side tokens on MELEK, without a contract
MELEK-Engine is a side-token layer on the MELEK chain — the same idea as Hive-Engine on Hive. You get your own token with a name, a supply and a reward pool, and you never write or deploy a line of Solidity. It is the no-code half of making a token here; the PRC-20 route on PRANA is the contract half.
What it actually is
A sidechain that reads MELEK. Every Engine operation is posted as a custom_json on the
MELEK chain, and Engine nodes replay those operations in order to compute the token state. MELEK provides the
ordering and the permanence; Engine provides the token logic on top.
Two consequences:
- Your token inherits MELEK's finality. There is no separate consensus to trust — the operations are already in MELEK blocks.
- It is not an EVM. There are no smart contracts here, no arbitrary code. You get the operations the Engine defines — issue, transfer, stake, reward — and nothing else. That is the trade: no flexibility, no deployment, no gas, no audit.

The only tokens on the sidechain are the fee token and the wrapped-MELEK miner token, both
issued by the founding witness. No other account has issued a token.
Make a token
- Get some APIS. Creating a token burns the fee token: the supply decreases and no account receives it.
tokens.create— symbol, name, precision, max supply. Precision cannot be changed after creation.tokens.issue— mint into circulation. The issuer account controls issuance.- Optional: turn on SCOT with
rewards.setReward— set a tag, a daily emission and an author/curator split. Posts on MELEK under that tag then earn your token alongside MELEK. - To trade it, wrap it to PRANA and open a pool on KulaSwap. The first deposit into a new pool sets its opening price.
The step-by-step with the exact payloads is on Make a token; the token portal is linked from there.
Engine or PRC-20 — which one
| MELEK-Engine | PRC-20 on PRANA | |
|---|---|---|
| You write code | No | Yes — Solidity |
| Costs to create | Burns APIS | Gas in PRANA |
| Post rewards (SCOT) | Yes — tag-based emission | No |
| Arbitrary logic | No | Yes |
| Trades on KulaSwap | After wrapping to PRANA | Directly |
| Good for | A community token tied to posting | Anything that needs rules |
The two can be combined: a token minted on Engine, so posts under its tag earn it, and wrapped to PRANA so it can trade.
